How does it Work?

 

You are a voting member of UAVS if you are Indigenous and live within 53 km of Red Deer. We invite you to attend community gatherings and strategic conversations. Join our facebook to receive information about events and opportunities in Red Deer. Indigenous and non-Indigenous members work together on community identified priorities in the domain groups. Check the website to find the times and locations of domain group meetings. You are welcome to join the domain group that interests you. Members of domain groups choose a speaker to sit in the leadership circle. The Leadership circle members conduct the business of the society on behalf of members and guide the action of domain groups. They are advised by the advisory circles.

Culture Domain

Working to ensure that Red Deer has an Indigenous Cultural knowledge base that is known and accessible to all. We embrace and are guided by cultural wisdom & traditional teachings to improve the lives of all people through preservation of culture and language and promotion of cultural sharing and building reconciliation.

Develop a list of the ways UAVS can support the preservation and sharing of Indigenous culture and languages in Red Deer.

Contribute to, promote and support Anti-racism programs.

Creation of cultural space to ensure space for ceremony.

Bringing Indigenous Governments together to increase access to culture & language in Red Deer.
